Rachael Wragg celebrates Women in Trade Day (Worldwide) holding her mallet.

WITD: Briefly tell us about your tool, how important it is. Why and when you use it?

Rachael: The mallet has been the symbol of the mason for thousands of years. Not only as a useful tool, used daily for the shaping of stone, but as a symbol of an ancient craft mostly unchanged.

WITD: How has it changed your life?

Rachael: It has empowered me to work with confidence in a male populated industry which in turn encourages me to empower other women to break the mould!

It is also important for the preservation of an ancient craft; we aren't just preserving old buildings but continuing and preserving the craft skills with which to care for them.

WITD: Briefly tell us why Women in Trade Day (Worldwide) on June 15th, 2022, is important to you?

Rachael: Women in Trade Day is important to highlight alternative careers to other women and raise awareness of retraining options without stigma or prejudice.

WITD: How will you be celebrating the day?

Rachael: By smashing stone and the patriarchy!

WITD: How are you inspiring other women?

Rachael: I hope my social media channel, as well as talks and interviews I partake in within my community can reach out to women of all ages and backgrounds to encourage them to think outside the box where careers are concerned.
