Jo Comparetto, Painter and Decorator, UK

Around The World: UK

Jo Comparetto celebrates Women in Trade Day (Worldwide) holding her wall and ceiling sander.

WITD: Briefly tell us about your tool, how important it is. Why and when you use it?

Jo: My favourite tool as a painter and decorator is a dustless wall and ceiling sander (Festool Planex). It is incredibly important for me to take to jobs! As part of the preparation for each job, walls and ceilings need to be sanded to ensure a smooth and lasting finish – the Planex is the perfect tool for this and helps to get the sanding done thoroughly and safely.

WITD: Briefly tell us why Women in Trade Day (Worldwide) on June 15th, 2022, is important to you?

Jo: I feel that recognition for women in trades is especially important, partly because it recognises women who are working in traditionally male roles as well as spreading the word about the many women in trades. By celebrating this day, awareness is raised and will hopefully inspire other women to start working in the trades and/or taking up courses.

WITD: How will you be celebrating the day?

Jo: I will be working hard but aim to share a post on social media to celebrate this important day.

WITD: How are you inspiring other women?

Jo: I hope that by running my own painting and decorating business, employing women to collaborate with me and sharing pictures of my work regularly inspires other woman to consider a career in the trades.
